Job Interview: Who is Stephen Whelan?The job interview: Meet the author. Stephen Whelan is a Senior Manager in one of the largest organisations in Ireland. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the selection and recruitment process. As part of his remit as a senior manager and in his previous posts leading up to his current appointment he has interviewed hundreds of candidates for innumerable vacancies. In this respect he has invaluable knowledge of the selection and recruitment processes from both sides of the table. Stephen is the author of the much acclaimed job interview answers guide where he provides powerful information on the whole interview process, from start to finish. Included in his book are 120+ answers to some of the most difficult questions. Stephen currently holds formal professional qualifications in a number of areas. He obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Social Services Management (HSSM) in 2005 through the University of Ulster. Stephen currently provides a mentorship relationship for students for this Diploma. In addition to this he currently holds a Higher National Diploma in Business Studies (HND) that he obtained in 2000/01. Stephen is also a qualified coach and obtained his Coaching in Work Certificate in 2007 which fits perfectly with helping people achieve their highest potential in the job interview process. Accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management he has excellent skills and abilities that develop others in their pursuit of excellence and brings all of this experience to the table in helping people through the recruitment and selection process. Achieving New Heights Coaching was the first formal accreditation of its kind in Northern Ireland with only five people qualifying in 2007. Stephen is currently studying for his Diploma as a Life Success Consultant at Oxford College, England. External to his business activities Stephen is a member of two Belfast schools Board of Governors. Responsible for the strategic and operational directions of both schools these teams are also responsible for the selection and recruitment of Teaching staff which includes job interviews. Stephen was a semi-professional football player and played at the highest level in Ireland and in Europe making his senior debut at professional level at just 15 years of age for Distillery Football Club. His other clubs include Glenavon FC, Newry Town FC and Portadown FC. Stephen is also a qualified football coach and has obtained the European 'B' Certificate for Coaching through the Irish Football Association (IFA) in 2002. Stephen is currently Chief Talent Scout for Colchester United Football Club in England, advising the club of potential future football professionals. Stephen has also worked for London based Queens Park Rangers Football Club and Oldham Athletic Football Club in the Greater Manchester area in the same capacity in previous years.
